Yesterday was either a girl's perfect day or a girl's worst day...depending on who you are. For me, it's hard to decide. I woke up early (thank god I was over the jetlag already!) and after breakfast, Khala and I set off in the gorgeous weather for Knightsbridge. We were in hot pursuit of a white graduation dress. Surprisingly, it has been one of the most difficult items to find, which is such a pain. Of course, the first store I try, Reiss, has the most perfect dress...in an enormous size. The rest of the day, we spent scouring every Reiss in the area, as well as Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Topshop, Zara, New Look, and other small boutiques around Regent Street, Bond Street, and Piccadilly Circus. It was perfect in the sense that I could shop all day long without the constant moanings of my younger sisters, complaining they were either tired or hungry or both. It was a disaster in that not a single Reiss had the dress in a size 4 (US size 0) and no other stores seemed to have that perfect graduation dress. I couldn't just pin my hopes on finding one in Turkey...what if that didn't work out either!?
I was so focused on finding a white dress, that I refused to buy anything else. Thank goodness I'm in London for a few more days! Topshop has some adorable tops I am dying to try! Maybe when I visit Westfield Mall on some upcoming rainy day...
As I sat outside Pret a Manger having lunch, I really had the opportunity to people-watch. I absolutely love people-watching, and London is one of the greatest places to do it. There are so many interesting and eclectic people wandering around the streets. I get some of my greatest fashion inspiration from watching people. The thing about London is that you can get away with wearing anything you want and nobody will judge you. There is a much more relaxed atmosphere about clothes. I've seen tights and shorts combinations, as well as cheetah harem pants with gladiators and maxi skirts with long cardigans. People wear what they want and make it work with their daily lives. I'm envious because I know the minute I step out in cheetah harem pants in Pittsburgh, I'll be the talk of the town. However, in my opinion, that could be a good thing. Well, I'll be going to try on some of those pants at Topshop now! I love how fashion truly is an art here and nobody follows anybody except themselves. I think I better start that trend in Pittsburgh... ;)

People wear whatever they want and it just works! I'll stay on the lookout for new trends and such, here in London and once I (finally!) get to Istanbul! |

Alright, so yesterday was a disaster in the aspect of not buying what I was searching for. However, window shopping and trend-spotting was right on! Today, I visited one of my favourite haunts, High Street Kensington. As I was walking by Kensington Gardens towards the shopping area to once again try looking for a dress, I passed the funniest man. Actually, it was kind of sad. I don't know if he was homeless or depressed or what his deal was, but he lumbered by me with dirty clothing, long tangled hair, and droopy unfocused eyes. In his left hand, he clutched an open, half empty bottle of wine. He was just walking down the street, like the other people around him. It was interesting to see someone so down walking through quite an affluent part of town and nobody around was even batting an eyelid at his grungy appearance. Only in London would you see someone like him at 10:30 in the morning and it wasn't even considered out of place! I wish I could have gotten a picture for you all, but I was just too amused to grab my camera. Next time, I'll be more prepared!
It was in Karen Millen that I found the dress. After 40 minutes of calling different stores around London (the shop girls made sure not to leave any stone unturned!), my size was located and is on its way to Khala's apartment. Success at last! I can't wait to show it off at graduation!
I'm back at the apartment now, but the weather, which turned a little breezy and chilly earlier on, has warmed up again, so Khala and I are heading out to Brick Lane and Canary Wharf. These are new parts of London for me, so I'm excited to get all artsy with my camera. Expect pictures! Talk to you all later :)
